About Teacher2Tutor

I strongly believe in using the Science of Reading to support students in their journey to learning how to read and write. My background as a reading and math interventionist helps me to create individualized learning plans for all students. Often times students do not fully understand a concept taught in the general education curriculum, but classroom teachers are required to move on. This creates holes in a child’s foundation for learning reading and math. Each of these holes make learning new and more complex skills more difficult to understand. It is my responsibility as a tutor and interventionist to find these missing skills and rebuild the foundation from the bottom up.

Learning should be fun! I plan instruction that is engaging and multisensory. Research shows that this builds memory and increases the ability to learn. Students can often be burnt out by the demands of school by the time of their tutoring sessions so I make sure that while instruction is rigorous, it is also enjoyable for students of all ages and interest levels.

When I’m not tutoring I love to spend time with my husband, three children, and extended family. I also love riding horses and being outdoors.

I’m Jessie Reed, the owner of Teacher2Tutor Professional Tutoring Services. In 2021, I made the decision to leave my work as a school-based math and reading interventionist to dive into the world of tutoring. I am a certified Orton Gillingham educator through the Institute of Multi-Sensory Education (Learn more at IMSE). I am also a Structured Literacy educator through the Center of Effective Reading Instruction (CERI Providers). I have extensive experience working with students with dyslexia and dysgraphia. I previously worked as a school-based reading specialist for over ten years in urban, suburban, and rural communities. I have a Master’s Degree as a Reading Specialist and a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
